Proposed ideas for projects as we head to commisioning in December: 1) Box Tops for Education Easy to do and good for the local schools, you can also redirect them others schools if you dont have kids and you want to help. School) 2) Toys For Tots I want some ideas on how best to do this, I have a couple of ideas in working with our SCA friends asking in like September of events to allows us to colect toys with people that register for events and mayeb cutitng a few dollars off admition if they bring a $10 unwrapped gift so we can send them on to the local USMC Stations come November. Another idea was sponsering events (Local Gaming, or Poker tourneys, or Putt Putt even... we have many options avable if we just look into it.) 3)SFMC Reading Challenge Ok this is a big one with me... I know you all read, some of ya a crap ton... so here is what ya do. Every 2 months when i do my reports we have a section where we add in the books members of the unit have read, recently My self, John McLaughlin, Carl Christianson, and Anya Walker have been doing it. Together with other members of the Battalion we smacked the rest of the Brigade about with this project. So you ask whats it take to do this??? After ya read a book make a note of the title, author, ISBN# and the # of pages and email it to me, simple enough and every book counts. You can only claim a book once not reread it 100 times like I do... But you are alowed to trade a book and let them read it also I reccomend books all the time now days. I know that John got over 10K pages in and got a Leaders Commendation from the Brigade OIC. Over all this year the BN read 87,000+ pages of the Brigades 197,000+. Master Gunnery Sergeant Kane has requested 250,000 pages this year, and well i cant disapoint him so get into the habbit of writing the info down and sending it in. It can be just about anything as long as it has a ISBN #, Kids books count too! If your fleet and want to help out you can go into ya membership and click the Marine reserve button and then read to your hears content as you support your Active Marine members as we work to the target. 4) Lets hear your ideas???
